Keyboard and Touch

The Responsive Hammer Lite (RHL) keyboard action of the Kawai CX102, with its 88 grade-weighted keys, simulates the touch of an acoustic grand piano as accurately as possible. Each key is weighted differently—keys in the bass range are heavier, while those in the treble range are lighter, just as on a real acoustic piano.

Thanks to the hammer-sensor technology inherited from Kawai’s premium instruments, the RHL action provides both a smooth response and minimizes mechanical noise, so you won't disturb family members while practicing at home. The matte key surface ensures that your hands remain comfortable during long hours of playing.

Sound Quality

Known as "Japan's most prestigious pianos," Shigeru Kawai instruments are played in the world's most famous concert halls. The CX102 fully reproduces the magnificent sound of the SK-EX concert grand, hand-crafted in the Shigeru Kawai laboratory in Ryuyo.

Thanks to Kawai's Harmonic Imaging technology, the CX1 02 conveys the tonal depth and warmth of an original acoustic piano, providing flawless performance across the entire dynamic range, from delicate pianissimo to powerful fortissimo. Six types of reverb effects allow the performer to feel like they are playing in a concert hall, a small salon, or a practice room.

The 22W stereo speaker system is sufficient to fill a medium-sized room. The Low Volume Balance function automatically optimizes the keyboard touch and piano tone even when using the reduced volume mode at night.

Features and Connectivity

The CX102 can connect wirelessly to smartphones, tablets, and laptops using Bluetooth® MIDI technology. Through the PianoRemote app, you can change sounds and adjust settings directly from your phone. The PiaBookPlayer app displays sheet music for over 370 pieces on the screen, with support for hands-free page turning via a foot pedal.

The built-in lesson function covers Czerny, Burgmüller, and Beyer etudes, as well as the Alfred Basic Piano course. Right and left-hand parts can be practiced separately. A metronome, tempo adjustment, and Dual, Split, and Four Hands playing modes expand creative possibilities. The internal recorder stores up to 10,000 notes.

Spatial Headphone Sound (SHS) technology enhances the depth and volume of the sound when listening through headphones. There is also an option to select different headphone types, such as open, semi-open, closed, and in-ear.

Design

The simple yet aesthetic cabinet of the CX102 features softly curved side arms and sturdy leg blocks for added stability. The sliding key cover protects the keys from dust; the folding music rest can be laid flat when not in use. With a depth of only 40.5 cm, this compact instrument is also ideal for apartment living. You can choose between Embossed Black and Embossed White colors to match your interior design.
