Sound technology — the closest reality to a grand piano
At the heart of the PX-870 is the Multi-Dimensional Morphing AiR Sound Source . New quadruple stereo grand samples create richer, more natural, and sustained tones. This system simulates not only the sound of the strings but also the resonance of the entire piano body, damper resonance, key-off, and key-action sounds. The result: The inter-string harmonies and subtle resonance nuances that composers such as Debussy and Ravel wrote about are vividly and convincingly expressed.
With details such as Lid Simulator , String Resonance , Key Off Simulator , and Key On/Off Action Noise, the PX-870 naturally presents all stages of the dynamics from the beginning to the end.
Keyboard & Performance Feel — Built to Feel
-
Tri-Sensor Scaled Hammer Action Keyboard II : The three-sensor system accurately reads key movement and delivers the same “sound timing” as a grand piano — meaning subtle delays from touch to sound are realistic.
-
Simulated ebony & ivory surface: reduces finger slippage, providing comfort during long performances.
-
Adjustable touch & hammer response : adjustments to suit different playing styles.
-
256-note polyphony : prevents sound interruptions during complex arrangements and pedal-assisted performances.
Sound Projection — rich, room-filling sound
The PX-870's Sound Projection system projects the piano's sound from multiple angles, enveloping the listener — just like a classic grand piano. With 40W (20W+20W) of power and a 4-speaker configuration (12 cm x2 + 4 cm x2, 2-way), the piano comfortably fills both a small hall and a home theater. And the Volume Sync EQ ensures balanced and clear sound across all frequencies, even when the level is turned down — ideal for late-night practice and use with headphones.
Teaching, performance and interactive features
-
Concert Play : Play along with 10 live orchestra recordings. LISTEN/LESSON/PLAY modes, turn off the piano part and play by yourself; and the speed can be changed.
-
Duet Mode : divides the keyboard into two equal ranges for the teacher and student to work simultaneously.
-
Headphone Mode : Specially adjusts the sound when playing with headphones — for a natural feel and a wider soundstage. The PX-870 allows two people to use headphones at the same time with two ¼” stereo jacks on the front panel.
-
Instant / Audio Recorder : It is possible to record 99 songs (approximately 25 minutes/song) in WAV 44.1 kHz format to a USB memory.
-
MIDI Recorder : 2 tracks, ~5,000 notes — real-time recording and playback.
-
Everyday convenience features like a slide-type keyboard cover and Auto Power Off .
