Kawai CX102
True grand piano quality — at an accessible price
The Kawai CX102 digital piano is an ideal choice for both beginners entering the world of music and experienced pianists looking for a secondary instrument. Featuring the new Responsive Hammer Lite keyboard action, the rich sounds of the Shigeru Kawai SK-EX concert grand, and Bluetooth® and USB connectivity, the CX102 delivers the authentic feel of an acoustic piano at an affordable price. Order the Kawai CX102 digital piano from Royal Musical Instruments and give your musical development a reliable start.
Keyboard and Touch
The Kawai CX102's Responsive Hammer Lite (RHL) keyboard action, with 88 graded weighted keys, precisely mimics the touch of an acoustic grand piano. Each key is weighted differently — keys in the bass region are heavier, while those in the treble region are lighter, just like in a real acoustic piano.
Thanks to the hammer-sensor technology derived from Kawai's premium instruments, the RHL action offers both smooth response and minimal mechanical noise — you won't disturb family members during home practice. The matte key surface ensures comfort for hands during long hours of playing.
Sound Quality
Known as "Japan's most prestigious pianos," Shigeru Kawai instruments resonate in the world's most famous concert halls. The CX102 fully reproduces the magnificent sound of the SK-EX concert grand, handcrafted in the Shigeru Kawai laboratory in Ryuyo.
Thanks to Kawai's Harmonic Imaging technology, the CX102 conveys the tonal depth and warmth of the original acoustic piano, delivering flawless performance across the entire dynamic range from delicate pianissimo to powerful fortissimo. Six types of reverb effects immerse the player in the acoustics of a concert hall, small salon, or practice room.
The 22W stereo speaker system is sufficient to fill a medium-sized room. The Low Volume Balance function automatically optimizes keyboard touch and piano tone even when using the reduced volume mode during late-night hours.
Features and Connectivity
The CX102 connects wirelessly to smartphones, tablets, and laptops via Bluetooth® MIDI technology. Through the PianoRemote app, you can change sounds and adjust parameters directly from your phone. The PiaBookPlayer app displays sheet music for over 370 pieces — with hands-free page turning support via a foot pedal.
The built-in lesson function covers Czerny, Burgmüller, Beyer etudes, and the Alfred Basic Piano course. Right and left-hand parts can be practiced separately. Metronome, tempo adjustment, Dual, Split, and Four Hands playing modes expand creative possibilities. The internal recorder stores up to 10,000 notes.
Spatial Headphone Sound (SHS) technology enhances the depth and volume of the sound when listening with headphones. The option to select various headphone types such as open, semi-open, closed, and in-ear is also available.
Design
The CX102's simple yet aesthetic cabinet features softly curved side arms and robust support blocks, providing additional stability. The sliding keyboard cover protects the keys from dust; the foldable music rest can be flattened when not needed. With a depth of just 40.5 cm, this compact instrument is ideal for apartment living. You can choose between Embossed Black and Embossed White to match your interior design.
