Triple sensor technology, 40W power — a step closer to a professional level
The Kawai CX202 digital piano, as a more powerful model in the CX series, offers an exceptional playing experience for both beginner and intermediate pianists. With its Responsive Hammer Compact II mechanism, triple sensor system, full 88-key sampling of the Shigeru Kawai SK-EX, and Bluetooth® Audio and MIDI connectivity, the CX202 brings you one step closer to a true acoustic piano. Order the Kawai CX202 digital piano from Royal Musical Instruments.
Keyboard and Touch
The CX202's Responsive Hammer Compact II (RHCII) mechanism is an evolution of Kawai's renowned RH keyboard design. Thanks to its springless construction and sturdy build, each key provides consistent, smooth responsiveness in its up-and-down motion. Improved cushioning material significantly reduces keyboard noise — a great advantage for practicing at home, especially during late hours.
The most important feature differentiating the CX202 from the CX102 is its Triple Sensor system. This technology dramatically increases responsiveness when playing the same key consecutively. Thanks to the addition of a third sensor, it's possible to start the next note before the previous one has fully finished — a particularly important feature for professional pianists, as it expands the expressive range between staccato and legato. Graded-weighted hammers from the bass to the treble regions complete the true acoustic piano feel.
Sound Quality
The CX202 is based on the same Shigeru Kawai SK-EX concert grand sampling as the CX102 — but with full 88-key sampling, preserving the unique tone of each note. The tonal clarity and dynamic range of this extraordinary instrument, handcrafted in the Ryuyo laboratory, are highly valued by the global music community.
Kawai's Harmonic Imaging technology fully reproduces the tonal depth of the original acoustic piano. Six types of reverberation effects (practice room, small lounge, concert hall, etc.) are designed to make every performance more lively.
The CX202's 40W stereo speaker system is almost twice as powerful as the CX102's 22W system — more than enough to deliver the rich Shigeru Kawai sound even in large rooms. The Low Volume Balance function optimizes keyboard touch and tone even when playing at reduced volume during nighttime.
Functions and Connectivity
Unlike the CX102, the CX202 supports both Bluetooth® MIDI and Bluetooth® Audio (Ver. 5.2) technology. This means you can wirelessly listen to audio signals from songs and videos directly from the piano — no extra cables or adapters needed.
With the PianoRemote app, you can adjust all parameters from your phone, and with the PiaBookPlayer app, you can view the sheet music for over 370 pieces on screen and turn pages hands-free with a foot pedal. The built-in Virtual Technician allows customization of everything from keyboard touch to pedal depth via 13 parameters.
The built-in lesson function includes Czerny, Burgmüller, Beyer etudes, and the Alfred Basic Piano course. Dual, Split, Four Hands modes, metronome, tempo adjustment, and a built-in recorder with 10,000 note memory are also available. The SHS headphone technology enhances the spatial depth of the sound when listening with headphones.
Design
The CX202's compact cabinet has a depth of only 40.5 cm — perfectly suited for small apartments and narrow spaces. The sliding key cover, foldable music rest, softly curved side arms, and sturdy support blocks combine aesthetics with functionality. With three attractive color options — Premium Rosewood, Premium Satin Black, and Premium Satin White — you'll find a variant that matches your interior design.
