Ryuyo craftsmanship and the character of the GX series

The GX series combines Kawai's Ryuyo grand piano manufacturing tradition in Japan with modern materials engineering. The tonal goal of the series is to provide natural transitions between registers, wide dynamics, clear projection, and reliable mechanical control for the pianist. With a string scale and soundboard adapted to its size, the GX-7 exhibits these features with its unique volume and resonance duration.

Millennium III Grand Action

The Millennium III action uses ABS-Carbon parts reinforced with carbon fiber. Because this material is lighter and stiffer than wooden action components, it facilitates fast note repetition, precise pianissimo control, and stable response during powerful performance. Extended keys create a more even resistance from the front to the back of the keyboard, while the NEOTEX white and black key surfaces provide a controlled touch during long practice sessions.

Mahogany hammers and tonal precision

The GX series uses light and stiff mahogany-core, full under-felted hammers. The mass and hardness of the hammer accurately transfer the energy from the key to the string, creating a clear response from soft nuances to powerful climaxes. Front and rear duplex scaling utilize the harmonic energy from the non-speaking segments of the strings, adding brightness to the upper register and additional color to the sound.

Solid spruce soundboard and resonance system

A 1.70 m² solid spruce soundboard with straight grain and tapered processing converts string vibrations into a broad, balanced tone. 4 back posts, a vertically laminated treble bridge, and a hybrid inner frame support the transmission of energy to the soundboard. The CORE system unites the main power points of the grand piano in the acoustic center; the SOLID construction holds the pinblock, upper beam, and case in a single rigid structure. The V‑Pro vacuum-molded iron frame is designed for stability under high string tension.
