PETROF's European grand piano tradition

PETROF continues the tradition of Czech piano manufacturing founded by Antonín Petrof in 1864. In the Style Collection line, the high degree of manual labor, selected European materials, and individual voicing for each model form PETROF's recognizable soft, round, and romantic tonal character.

Resonant spruce soundboard

The soundboard, made of resonant spruce with an active area of 1.293 m², is tapered to suit the model's string scale. 11 ribs support the soundboard's flexibility and the even distribution of string energy. The result is a warm fundamental tone in the bass, a singing timbre in the middle register, and clear, yet not harsh, projection in the treble.

Construction and tonal stability

The cast iron frame, manufactured using the wet sand casting method, withstands high string tension. A multi-layer beech pinblock, an inner rim constructed of beech and maple layers, solid maple bridges, and German-made Röslau steel strings work together for resonance transfer, tuning stability, and long-term durability. Brass agraffes for keys 1–53 and front-rear duplex scales precisely control the speaking length and harmonic structure of the strings.

Action, keyboard, and pedal

PETROF, RENNER ORIGINAL, or RENNER–PETROF configuration action transmits the pianist's touch to the hammer quickly and with control. German-made hammer heads are individually voiced for each instrument. Tangentially cut spruce keys are individually balanced with lead, and ebony wood is used for the black keys. Unacorda, sostenuto, and sustain pedals provide full expressive capabilities for the classical grand piano repertoire; the hydraulic slow-close fallboard makes daily use safe.
