PETROF's romantic sound philosophy

PETROF continues the tradition of European piano manufacturing established in the Czech Republic since 1864. The resonance spruce, model-specific scale design, and individual hammer voicing for each instrument create a soft, rounded, and singing tonal character. The P 173 Breeze presents this sound philosophy with bass depth, middle register color, and treble projection suited to its size.

Resonance spruce soundboard

The resonance spruce soundboard with 1.293 m² of active area is tapered to suit the model for free string energy transmission and reinforced with 11 spherical or asymmetric ribs. This construction creates long sustain, natural register transitions, and a wide dynamic range.

Construction and string system

The wet sand-cast iron plate supports high string tension. A multi-layered beech pinblock, beech-maple inner rim, and solid maple bridges work together for resonance transmission and tuning stability. Röslau steel strings, Degen copper windings, agraffes for keys 1–53, and a front-rear duplex system refine the harmonic structure.

Action and keyboard

The RENNER–PETROF action provides fast repetition, delicate control in pianissimo, and stable response in powerful dynamics. Premium German hammer heads are individually voiced. Tangentially cut spruce keys are individually balanced, and ebony black keys offer a natural and durable surface. Unacorda, sostenuto, and sustain pedals create full expressive possibilities for the classical grand piano repertoire.
